Molise

The second smallest of the regions. It was formerly (until 1963) part of the region of Abruzzi e Molise (with Abruzzo) and now a separate entity. The region covers 4,438 km and has a population of about 300,000. The region has prosperous towns along the Adric like Tremoli and less prosperous town in the inland like Campobasso and Insernia. The region had a great wave of people leaving for The United States and Argentina in the early 1900's. In the United States they settled mostly in Ohio and New Jersey. Grapes grown are mostly Montepulciano d Abruzzo and Trebbiano di Abruzzo. Molsie's lone indigenious grape is Tintilla.
