Etna Rosso, by Al Cantara Winery, 2014 O'Scuru O'Scuru

Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio are the grape varieties that give life to the Etna Rosso DOC. The vineyard is located on the volcano Etna, at an altitude of 650m asl
The hand-picked grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged in oak barriques for 6 months. The volcanic soil, rich in minerals, gives the unique flavor to this deep ruby red wine.
The nose perceives notes of berries, spices and vanilla. In the mouth it is smooth, fresh and persistent. Soft tannins lead to a pleasant sapidity.

The name:
Name: O’Scuru O’Scuru
EN: Deep Dark
The name of the wine comes from the sonnet by the famous Sicilian poet Nino Martoglio.
"O 'scuru O' scuru" (Deep Dark) is one of the most beautiful poems of Nino Martoglio, from the compendium of Sonnets published in 1895 with designs by his brother Giovanni, then merged into the famous book "La Centona" dedicated to another famous Sicilian writer Luigi Capuana.
The poet Martoglio in this compendium describes the Sicilian "mafia" of the time.
