Barolo Sorano took the lead during the 2004 Barolo Wines tasting event earning the top 5 stars awarded by wine writer Tom Maresca, and it was followed closely by Sorano Coste & Bricco which got 4 stars. In his notes concerning the tasting, Mr. Maresca writes: "The two wines stand out for their balance and they will be able to develop a great potential in the next 20-30 years".

Cherry compote, licorice, tar, and sandalwood flavors mark this compact red. The muscular tannins dominate the finish for now, with a sweet fruit component returning in the end. Best from 2022 through 2040. 500 cases made. — BS
