La Espera Winery | Argentina
Funckenhausen Winery is an Estate winery in Mendoza Argentina. They strive to be innovative and produce the best wines in the region. President Alejandro Lerado Heinlein has visited with us in Ohio and is happy to keep us informed about the winery and updated on new products
The proximity to the foothills of the pre-Andean mountain range and the cone formed by the San Rafael and Diamante Rivers are decisive in the composition of the soils. The soils are heterogeneous and highly permeable, formed by a first sandy loam layer mixed with boulders of different sizes at variable depths, caliches (calcrete) and deposits of calcareous materials. Being one of the highest planted properties in the southern oasis of Mendoza, they benefit from a comparatively cooler climate which is reflected in the profile of their wines.
We selected the La Espera varietal because they are highly aromatic, equilibrated wines characterized by a present and balanced acidity born in sandy loamy soil profiles. We are positive you will enjoy your explorations of these fine wines.
