Riesling Spatlese, 2024 Piesporter Goldtropfchen, St Christopher
Riesling Piesporter Spatlese Goldtropchen by St. Christopher.
This elegant German white wine comes from the Mosel Valley, one of Germany’s most celebrated Riesling regions. The Piesporter Goldtröpfchen vineyard is known for its steep, slate-rich slopes, which help give Riesling its distinctive mineral character and freshness.
Grape: 100% Riesling.
Style: Off-dry to sweet, with refreshing acidity.
Aromas and flavors: Ripe peach, apricot, nectarine, tropical fruit, honeyed citrus and delicate floral notes.
Palate: Juicy fruit and gentle sweetness balanced by bright acidity, creating a lively, lingering finish.
What does Spätlese mean? It translates to “late harvest.” The grapes are picked later in the season, allowing them to develop greater ripeness and concentrated fruit flavors. The resulting wine often has noticeable sweetness balanced by Riesling’s naturally high acidity.
Food pairings: Excellent with spicy Asian dishes, Thai curry, glazed pork, duck, or fruit-based desserts.
