Ripasso della Valpolicella Doc Classico 2024, 750 Ml Regular Bottle Campagnola
$19.99
Regular price $17.99Region: Valpolicella viticultural area, Ripasso is always a Valpolicella
Best Buy,
This is a rich, smooth Northern Italian red from the classic Valpolicella area of Veneto. Campagnola’s Ripasso is made from 80% Corvina/Corvinone and 20% Rondinella.
The traditional “Ripasso” method gives the wine extra richness: after the initial fermentation, the wine is refermented on the fresh grape skins left from Amarone and Recioto production. It then spends about 12 months in large Slavonian oak barrels followed by bottle aging.
Style: Dry, medium-to-full bodied, smooth and structured
Aromas: Ripe cherry, berry preserves, spice and subtle floral notes
Palate: Rich ripe fruit, soft tannins and good freshness, with a characteristic slightly bitter finish
Alcohol: About 13.7%
Serving: 17–18°C (63–64°F)
Food pairing: Excellent with pasta, risotto, red meats, game, salumi and aged cheeses.
A great step up from regular Valpolicella without the intensity and sweetness of Amarone—rich enough for hearty food but still fresh and very approachable. The 2023 vintage, immediately preceding this 2024, received 91 points from James Suckling and 94 from Luca Maroni.
Rich and velvety Ripasso with ripe cherry, berry and spice, offering soft tannins, lively freshness and a long, savory finish.
