Viognier 2024 Vola Vola By Fina in Trapani
$19.99
Regular price $18.00Vola Vola Viognier 2024 by Cantine Fina is a dry, aromatic white from Western Sicily near Trapani, made from 100% Viognier. The vineyards sit at roughly 600 meters elevation, which helps preserve freshness in Sicily’s warm climate.
Style: Dry, aromatic, fresh and elegant
Grape: 100% Viognier
Region: Western Sicily, Trapani
Aromas: White peach, citrus, tropical fruit, flowers and Mediterranean herbs
Palate: Ripe and expressive, but surprisingly fresh and mineral, with pleasant salinity and a clean, elegant finish
Winemaking: Fermented and aged in stainless steel, with bottle refinement; no oak
Alcohol: About 13%
Serving: Best around 10–12°C (50–54°F)
What I particularly like about this wine is that it doesn't become heavy or overly perfumed, as some Viogniers can. The tropical and stone-fruit character is balanced by citrus, mineral notes and a distinctly Mediterranean, savory freshness.
It's excellent with seafood, shellfish, sushi and sashimi, salmon, grilled fish, fresh cheeses, white meats and seafood pasta. It also works nicely as an aperitif.
Bottom line: A very attractive Sicilian interpretation of Viognier—fragrant, fruity and floral, but dry, mineral and refreshing rather than sweet.
