Best French Wines

France is the largest exporter of wines in the world. Many people are not aware of this fact. There are many producers of wine in France with some being very large and famous for quality while others are small family-owned vineyards that produce grapes for large production houses with no name recognition.

The best wines from France are grown in the north, however, because the entire country has strict appellation laws that state what grapes can be produced where and when there are some world-class wines being made everywhere in France. The regions all make a large amount of wine for local consumption but still have enough to export. Some regions are more famous for certain grapes, but make wines from many varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Merlot.
