Heat and Cold Shield

Our delivered wines are protected with Heat and Cold Shielding to ensure a stabilized temperature inside the package so your order arrives fresh and pure.

Temperature protection for shipped wine is mainly about preventing heat damage, freezing, and the flavor changes that come from repeated temperature swings.

Heat shielding
When wine gets too hot — usually above about 80°F (27°C) for extended periods — several problems can happen:
The wine ages prematurely
Fresh fruit flavors become “cooked” or flat
Aromas dull or turn jammy
Corks can expand and leak
Oxidation speeds up

Extreme cold can also damage wine:
Wine can partially freeze around 20°F to 25°F (-6°C to -4°C)
Expansion may push the cork out
Oxygen can enter the bottle
Sediment and tartrate crystals may form
Repeated freeze/thaw cycles stress the wine
